Italian gore maestro Lucio Fulci turns the camera on himself, playing a fictionalized version of the director whose decades of cinematic carnage have begun to erode his grip on reality. Haunted by the visceral imagery of his own films, he seeks help from a psychiatrist — a decision that may prove far more dangerous than any nightmare his imagination has produced. Part self-portrait, part fever dream, the film gleefully blurs the line between creator and creation. It's one of the most audaciously meta entries in the splatter genre.
