In a vast, desolate virtual wasteland, a handful of lone warriors armed to the teeth find themselves locked in relentless combat against colossal mutant sandwhales lurking beneath the digital earth. The game demands results, but the barren landscape and monstrous prey make cooperation between these solitary players an unavoidable necessity. Director Mamoru Oshii crafts a hypnotic, slow-burn sci-fi experience that lingers on atmosphere as much as action.
