The premise

As the residents of the Pi Kappa Sigma sorority house prepare for the festive season, a stranger begins to harass them with a series of obscene phone calls.

Horror Vault's take

Long before the slasher genre had a name, this 1974 Canadian chiller laid down its blueprint. A sorority house buzzing with Christmas cheer becomes a place of creeping dread when its residents begin receiving deeply disturbing phone calls from an unknown caller. Director Bob Clark builds unbearable tension through what is heard rather than seen, turning festive familiarity into something profoundly sinister. Equal parts mystery and horror, it remains one of the most influential genre films ever made.
