At the edge of the world, a young man takes up a posting as a weather observer on a desolate island in the aftermath of World War I — only to discover that darkness falls very differently here than anywhere he has known. Each night brings a relentless siege from creatures rising out of the surrounding sea, and his only reluctant ally is a grizzled, unhinged lighthouse keeper with his own disturbing relationship to the island's secrets. Cold Skin is as much a meditation on what it means to be human as it is a creature-feature, anchored by Ray Stevenson's ferocious performance and stunning coastal cinematography. Fans of literary, idea-driven horror will find plenty to chew on long after the credits roll.
