George Romero's third entry in his landmark Living Dead saga descends into the suffocating depths of an underground military bunker in Florida, where the last remnants of organized humanity are slowly tearing themselves apart. A small team of scientists races to understand — and perhaps rehabilitate — the zombie hordes above, while increasingly unhinged soldiers make every day a powder keg. Romero trades the shopping-mall satire of Dawn of the Dead for something rawer and more desperate: a pressure-cooker study in how quickly civilization collapses from the inside out.
