The premise

Towards the end of the Civil War, a group of Confederate soldiers hole up on an abandoned plantation after robbing a bank, and find themselves at the mercy of supernatural forces.

After a desperate bank robbery near the close of the Civil War, a band of Confederate soldiers seek refuge in a crumbling Alabama plantation — only to discover they are far from alone. Something ancient and malevolent has claimed the property, and as night closes in, the men begin to realize their greatest threat is not pursuit by Union forces. Dead Birds is a slow-burn period horror that layers Southern Gothic atmosphere over escalating supernatural dread. Fans of haunted-location horror will find plenty to unsettle them in its decaying halls and dark corners.
