When an American family relocates to Mexico to run a doll factory, they unwittingly set up shop beside an ancient burial site harbouring a deeply malevolent spirit. It isn't long before one of the dolls falls into the hands of their young daughter — and something very wrong begins to take hold. Equal parts killer-doll chiller and supernatural folk menace, Dolly Dearest draws on pre-Columbian dread to give its pint-sized villain a genuine sense of ancient evil. Parents may find the film's premise uncomfortably close to home.
