The premise
11-year-old Nicolas lives with his mother in a seaside housing estate. The only place that ever sees any activity is the hospital. It is there that all the boys from the village are forced to undergo strange medical trials that attempt to disrupt the phases of evolution.

In a remote coastal village where only boys and their mothers seem to exist, eleven-year-old Nicolas begins to sense that something deeply wrong lurks beneath the surface of his quiet, regimented life. The local hospital holds a disturbing purpose, and the clinical rituals imposed on the children grow stranger and more invasive by the day. Director Lucile Hadžihalilović crafts a slow-burn fever dream soaked in tidal imagery and creeping unease, where the boundary between care and control dissolves entirely. What unfolds is a haunting meditation on the vulnerability of young bodies subjected to forces they cannot name or resist.
