The premise

Each self-contained episode features a different kind of horror, varying from witches, werewolves, ghosts, devil worship and voodoo, but also includes non-supernatural themes such as cannibalism, confinement and serial killers.

Horror Vault's take

Hammer's legendary horror brand brought its signature gothic dread to television with this anthology series, delivering a fresh standalone nightmare each episode. From cursed witches and restless spirits to flesh-hungry killers and devil worshippers, the range of horrors on offer is impressively broad. The series proves that terror doesn't always need a supernatural source — sometimes the most chilling stories are rooted in all-too-human darkness. A landmark of British horror television that showcases Hammer at its most inventive and varied.
