I Was a Teenage Frankenstein1957
“Body of a boy! Mind of a monster! Soul of an unearthly thing!”
Directed by Herbert L. Strock
The premise
Professor Frankenstein creates a teenager from an accident victim, who gets angry when he learns he is going to be taken apart.
Horror Vault's take
A descendant of the infamous Frankenstein lineage brings his obsessive experiments into the atomic age, assembling a new creature from the remains of a teenage accident victim. The cold, calculating professor soon discovers that his creation is far more than a passive subject — and that playing God carries consequences he didn't anticipate. Blending 1950s teen-picture energy with classic monster-movie dread, the film delivers a surprisingly pointed riff on youth, conformity, and the ethics of science. A memorable selective-color climax gives the low-budget chiller a genuinely striking visual punch.
