The premise

A giant octopus, whose feeding habits have been affected by radiation from H-Bomb tests, rises from the Mindanao Deep to terrorize the California Coast.

Horror Vault's take

When mysterious attacks begin plaguing vessels in the Pacific, a submarine commander and a pair of scientists uncover a terrifying truth lurking in the ocean depths. Radiation from hydrogen bomb testing has driven a colossal creature from the Mindanao Deep toward the California coastline, and no coastal city is safe. This 1955 creature feature showcases Ray Harryhausen's landmark stop-motion effects as the beast makes its apocalyptic approach toward San Francisco. Cold War anxieties and atomic-age dread fuel every frame of this classic monster spectacle.
