When a university paleontology professor takes delivery of a rare prehistoric fish specimen, an accidental exposure during his examination sets off a terrifying chain of events he struggles to understand or control. Something in the ancient creature's biology begins to rewrite his own, dragging him backward through human evolution in the most dangerous way possible. As brutal murders start occurring on and around campus, a detective closes in on answers that hit uncomfortably close to home. This late-1950s Universal sci-fi horror entry blends Jekyll-and-Hyde dread with creature-feature thrills in crisp black and white.
