Director Freddie Francis crafts a bracingly strange slice of British cult cinema where nursery-rhyme pleasantries mask something genuinely lethal beneath the surface. Equal parts drawing-room farce and disturbing thriller, the film skewers the myth of the perfect family with mordant glee.
