The premise
Trapped on her family’s isolated farm, Pearl must tend to her ailing father under the bitter and overbearing watch of her devout mother. Lusting for a glamorous life like she’s seen in the movies, Pearl’s ambitions, temptations, and repressions collide.

Set against the sun-drenched backdrop of a Texas farm during the 1910s, Pearl follows a young woman whose hunger for stardom and escape from her suffocating home life begins to curdle into something far more dangerous. Beneath its deceptively bright, Technicolor-inspired aesthetic lies a deeply unsettling portrait of a mind unraveling at the seams. Director Ti West and star Mia Goth craft an origin story that is equal parts tragic melodrama and visceral horror, keeping viewers transfixed by a character they can almost — but not quite — root for.
