The premise
200 years ago, innkeepers Jette and August Deibelschmidt led a rapacious life. Out of greed, they repeatedly got their guests drunk in order to steal from them. When police commissioner Friedrich Wilhelm Licht tried to put them out of action, the house caught fire and all three died. In his last words, he curses the pair of thieves, saying that they will not find peace until they have done seven good deeds after 200 years.

Two centuries after a pair of scheming innkeepers met their fiery end, their restless spirits find themselves trapped in a very different world — a modern East German tower block. Bound by an old curse, the mischievous duo must somehow learn to do good rather than cause chaos if they ever hope to find peace. This East German children's television favourite blends gentle ghost-story spookiness with warm comedic energy, making the afterlife surprisingly entertaining.
