The premise
A psychotic killer is on the prowl, who continues to slaughter young women while an innocent man is wrongly accused and sentenced for crimes he could never have committed. A determined detective arrives on the scene and soon becomes obsessed with the case while under pressure from the prosecutor to see a man hang.

Set against the oppressive backdrop of 1960s communist Hungary, Strangled follows a serial killer who continues to claim female victims even as an innocent man languishes behind bars for his crimes. A tenacious detective becomes consumed by the case, convinced the truth is being buried under political pressure. The film draws on real events to craft a suffocating portrait of a justice system more interested in closing cases than finding the truth — where the real monster walks free while bureaucracy looks the other way.
