The premise
1933. Hercule Poirot, older and greyer, receives letters threatening murder. The sender signs themselves only as “A.B.C.” When he takes the letters to the police looking for help, Hercule finds all his old friends have moved on. But soon there is a murder and the once-great detective must take matters into his own hands.

1930s Britain becomes a hunting ground as the legendary Hercule Poirot — older, isolated, and no longer the celebrated figure he once was — receives a series of taunting letters signed only 'A.B.C.', each preceding a brutal murder. John Malkovich brings a weathered gravitas to Agatha Christie's iconic detective, forced to chase a methodical killer largely on his own. This BBC adaptation leans into psychological darkness and period atmosphere, painting a portrait of a man racing against a threat that seems designed specifically to destroy him. As the body count rises and the pattern grows more sinister, the line between hunter and hunted begins to blur.
