In a quiet small town, a dedicated but secretive doctor races to develop a serum he believes can restore a young polio patient to full health — whatever the cost. When a savage ape escapes from a traveling circus and begins attacking locals, a creeping dread settles over the community. Boris Karloff brings his signature unsettling warmth to the role of Dr. Adrian, blurring the line between compassion and something far more sinister. As the body count rises, the townspeople begin to wonder whether the real monster walks on two legs or four.
