The premise
1956, in the north of France. A group of underground miners is forced to take a professor to take samples a thousand meters underground. After a landslide that prevents them from going back up, they discover a crypt from another time, and unknowingly awaken a legendary bloodthirsty creature.
Horror Vault's take
Set in the coal-mining communities of northern France in 1956, this French horror-drama traps a crew of miners hundreds of metres underground after a catastrophic collapse cuts off any hope of escape. Forced to push deeper into the earth alongside an academic with his own agenda, they stumble upon a chamber that should never have been found — and disturb something that has been waiting there for a very long time. What follows is a desperate fight for survival against darkness both literal and ancient, unfolding in the suffocating tunnels far beneath the surface.
