The Eighteenth Angel1997
“The Crow Flies, The Clock Strikes And the Devil is Due.”
Directed by William Bindley
The premise
Mythology and religious dogma are slowly revealed when an attractive young woman is approached by a modeling agency that pulls her into an underworld of priests that are not Christian but rather want to resurrect Satan by collecting the souls of 18 beautiful children.
Horror Vault's take
When a grieving father accompanies his teenage daughter to Italy for a modeling opportunity, something feels dangerously off about the charismatic agents and shadowy clergymen circling her. Beneath the glamour lies a centuries-old religious conspiracy with a very specific and terrifying purpose. The film weaves Catholic imagery and ancient mythology into a slow-burning thriller where no one around the young woman can be fully trusted. Fans of occult-tinged mystery will find its European monastery atmosphere and dread-soaked premise a compelling slow crawl toward darkness.
