When troubled foster teen Samantha carelessly loses track of her young foster sister Olivia in the woods, her relief at Olivia's return quickly curdles into something far more disturbing. Something that looks like Olivia has come back — but Sam alone seems to sense that it isn't quite right. Set against the isolating backdrop of a small rural town, the film weaves genuine dread into an already emotionally fraught story of a girl who has never truly felt at home anywhere. The result is a slow-burn supernatural thriller that grounds its horror in very real feelings of guilt, loneliness, and desperate longing to belong.
