The premise

A priest with a dark past and a novice nearing her final vows are sent by the Vatican to Romania to investigate a nun's death and face a demonic force.

Horror Vault's take

When a young nun dies under mysterious circumstances at a remote Romanian abbey, the Vatican dispatches a battle-scarred priest and an eager novitiate to uncover the truth. What they find buried within those crumbling stone walls is far older and far more malevolent than any earthly evil. Set against a gothic landscape of fog-choked forests and torch-lit corridors, the film plunges its investigators into a confrontation that will test their faith to its absolute limits.
