The premise
A year after the disappearance of their son, Gabe and Eve Caleigh and their two daughters attempt to start anew, they head to Crickley Hall - a seemingly perfect countryside house. But when cellar doors start to open on their own, phantom children's cries are heard through the night and a frenzied cane-wielding specter rears its head - the Caleigh's realize the house comes with a lot more than they bargained for. Just as they're ready to move out, Eve Caleigh hears Cam's cries and all bets are off.

Still raw from the disappearance of their young son, the Caleigh family seeks a fresh start in the grand but foreboding Crickley Hall — only to find the old house harbours dark echoes of its own tragic history. Strange sounds, self-moving doors, and a terrifying apparition make it clear that something deeply wrong took root here long ago. This BBC miniseries layers domestic grief onto classic haunted-house dread, anchored by a strong ensemble cast including Suranne Jones and Tom Ellis. The line between the family's personal anguish and the hall's spectral secrets grows increasingly — and disturbingly — blurred.
