The premise

Beleaguered adventurer Carl Denham returns to the island where he found King Kong.

Horror Vault's take

Disgraced showman Carl Denham, still haunted by the chaos Kong unleashed on New York, finds himself drawn back to the mysterious Skull Island in search of a fresh start. What he discovers there is something far more surprising than the terrors that made his name — a remnant of the island's impossible fauna that forces him to reckon with his past. Equal parts adventure yarn and monster spectacle, this swift follow-up trades its predecessor's dread for a more freewheeling, good-natured tone. Fans of classic Hollywood creature features will find plenty of vintage charm in its island escapades and early special-effects wizardry.
