The premise

Grandpa Slava is the oldest of the Midland vampire family. They live quietly. They live by the law. They live the unremarkable life of an ordinary Russian family and they never kill humans – ever. Although, of course, everyone knows they drink blood. And when some lifeless corpses are found in a birch grove near Smolensk... their peaceful life falls under threat.

Deep in the Russian heartland, the Midland family looks like any other multigenerational household — bickering relatives, mundane routines, and all. The catch: they're vampires, and they've spent decades blending in by following a strict code of non-lethal conduct. When drained bodies turn up in a birch grove outside Smolensk, the family's carefully maintained cover risks unraveling. Someone — or something — is breaking the rules, and Grandpa Slava's clan is squarely in the frame.
