Set in a rural Malaysian all-girls school, Tiger Stripes follows a young girl whose body begins changing in deeply unsettling ways as puberty takes hold — changes that set her apart from her classmates in frightening and inexplicable fashion. What begins as a coming-of-age story quickly curdles into something far more primal, weaving local folklore and bodily dread into a portrait of girlhood under siege. The film uses horror as a lens to examine how communities — and institutions — respond when a young woman's body refuses to conform.
