The premise
A historic Hollywood hotel houses a supernatural evil. It's been subdued for decades, but when renovations start, a series of murders take place.

A crumbling Hollywood apartment hotel with a murky past becomes a killing ground when renovation work disturbs something that should have stayed buried. Tenants begin disappearing in gruesome fashion, and one determined woman starts piecing together the building's sinister secrets. Tobe Hooper's late-career return to brutal horror blends old-school slasher carnage with occult undercurrents and a genuinely oppressive sense of place. The labyrinthine hotel itself becomes as threatening as any blade-wielding maniac.
