The premise
Avery Malone, a wannabe writer and lonely librarian, gets her big break when she's hand-selected to assist her hero, reclusive author, Caleb Conrad. Whisked away to Caleb's remote estate, Avery is given her one and only task; to participate in a controlled psychological experiment in fear that will serve as the basis for Caleb's next novel.

Aspiring writer Avery Malone believes she has landed her dream opportunity when a celebrated but elusive author invites her to his secluded estate as a personal assistant. The job comes with a disturbing condition: she must submit herself to a carefully orchestrated experiment designed to provoke genuine terror. Trapped between professional ambition and mounting dread, Avery begins to question where the psychological exercise ends and real danger begins. The remote setting and the author's unsettling methods make for a slow-burn thriller that keeps viewers second-guessing every interaction.
