The premise

A teenage boy is haunted in his dreams by deceased child murderer Freddy Krueger, who is out to possess him in order to continue his reign of terror in the real world.

Horror Vault's take

When a teenage boy moves into the house on Elm Street, he quickly discovers that its previous occupant left behind more than just a diary — she left behind a nightmare. Freddy Krueger has set his sights on this new resident, working to use him as a vessel to cross from the dream world into the real one. As the line between sleeping and waking blurs, the teen's grip on his own mind and body begins to slip in terrifying ways. This entry takes the series in a distinctly possession-driven direction, making it one of the franchise's most psychologically charged chapters.
