The premise
Tricia's husband has been missing for seven years. Her younger sister Callie comes to live with her as the pressure mounts to finally declare him 'dead in absentia'. Tricia is reluctant, always holding out hope, but Callie is practical and wants her to move on. As Tricia sifts through the wreckage and tries to move on with her life, Callie finds herself drawn to an ominous tunnel near the house.

Seven years after her husband vanished without a trace, Tricia is finally pushed toward declaring him legally dead — a decision haunted by guilt, grief, and disturbing visions she can't explain. When her younger sister Callie moves in to help her heal, a foreboding tunnel in the neighborhood begins to exert a strange and terrible pull. Shot on a shoestring budget, Absentia builds its dread through atmosphere and emotional rawness rather than spectacle. What lurks in the dark between the missing and the found is far more unsettling than anything easily named.
