The premise
Alice is a withdrawn 12-year-old who lives with her mother and her younger sister, Karen, who gets most of the attention from her mother, leaving Alice out of the spotlight. When Karen is found brutally murdered in a church, suspicions start to turn toward Alice. But could a 12-year-old girl really be capable of such savagery?

In a tight-knit Catholic community, a young girl's murder inside a church sets off a spiral of dread and accusation that falls squarely on her troubled older sister. Alice, Sweet Alice weaponizes religious iconography and domestic dysfunction to craft a deeply unsettling mystery where innocence itself becomes suspect. The film lingers in grimy, oppressive atmosphere rather than outright gore, drawing heavily from the giallo tradition while planting itself firmly in American suburbia. Few horror films make childhood this frightening.
