A deliberately outrageous grindhouse throwback, Black Devil Doll resurrects the spirit of a executed death-row militant inside a ventriloquist dummy with murderous — and deeply depraved — intentions. A group of young women find themselves at the mercy of the foul-mouthed, libidinous doll in a film that wallows gleefully in bad taste. Channeling the blaxploitation and killer-doll genres through an extreme splatter lens, it makes no apologies for its confrontational, shock-first approach. Viewer discretion is an understatement.
