The premise

On the surface, Saya is a stunning 16-year-old, but that youthful exterior hides the tormented soul of a 400-year-old "halfling". Born to a human father and a vampire mother, she has for centuries been a loner obsessed with using her samurai skills to rid the world of vampires, all the while knowing that she herself can survive only on blood like those she hunts.

Horror Vault's take

Saya appears to be a teenage girl, but beneath that façade lives a centuries-old halfling — part human, part vampire — whose existence is defined by bloodshed and solitude. Dispatched to a U.S. military base in post-war Japan, she pursues demonic prey that lurks among the unsuspecting population. Armed with a katana and driven by a tortured sense of purpose, she walks a razor's edge between the two worlds that claim her. This live-action adaptation of the cult anime delivers stylized action soaked in supernatural menace.
