Django Kill... If You Live, Shoot!1967
“Terror from the depths of hell!”
Directed by Giulio Questi
The premise
A Mexican outlaw known as "The Stranger" is part of a band of thieves that steal a cargo of gold from a stagecoach. However, the Americans in the band betray him, and shoot all the Mexicans. The Stranger is not completely dead though, and crawls his way out of his shallow grave, continuing his pursuit of the gold, and exacting a bloody vengeance.
Horror Vault's take
Left for dead after a brutal double-cross, a mysterious outlaw claws his way back from the grave with one thing on his mind: the gold that was stolen — and the men who stole it. What begins as a straightforward revenge pursuit spirals into something far darker and stranger, as the lawless frontier town he enters proves to harbour its own festering sins. Infamous among Spaghetti Western fans for pushing violence and depravity well beyond genre norms, this 1967 cult entry blurs the line between Western and outright horror. Its lurid, nightmarish atmosphere makes it unlike almost anything else in the Django canon.
