Late Night Trains1975
“Most movies last less than two hours! This is one of everlasting torment!”
Directed by Aldo Lado
The premise
Two young women, Margaret and Lisa, are set to take the overnight train from Munich in Germany to stay with Lisa's parents in Italy for Christmas. Unfortunately a pair of psychotic hoodlums and an equally demented nymphomaniac woman terrorize the pair.
Horror Vault's take
Two young women boarding an overnight train for a Christmas holiday soon find themselves trapped in a nightmare when a trio of dangerous, unhinged strangers share their compartment. What begins as unsettling harassment escalates into something far darker across the long journey through the night. Italian genre filmmaker Aldo Lado delivers a punishing exercise in sustained dread that made the film notorious across Europe. The second half of the picture shifts the tone dramatically, ensuring the horror doesn't end when the train pulls in.
