The premise

Ash Williams and his girlfriend Linda find a log cabin in the woods with a voice recording from an archeologist who had recorded himself reciting ancient chants from "The Book of the Dead." As they play the recording an evil power is unleashed taking over Linda's body.

Horror Vault's take

When Ash Williams and his girlfriend retreat to a remote cabin, an innocent-seeming tape recording unleashes an ancient, ravenous evil that turns a quiet weekend into an all-out war for survival. Sam Raimi's cult masterpiece cranks the original's dread up to eleven, blending visceral horror with anarchic slapstick in a way few films have dared to match. Bruce Campbell delivers a career-defining physical performance as Ash, a reluctant hero battered, haunted, and pushed to his absolute limits. Buckle up — Evil Dead II is a relentless, blood-soaked carnival ride that refuses to slow down.
