Eyeball1975
“A blinding vision of horror.”
Directed by Umberto Lenzi
The premise
A group of American tourists is traveling through Spain when two of them are murdered by a mysterious serial killer who removes an eyeball from every one of its victims. The tour presses on as the murders continue, with the travelers and the police trying to deduce which one of them is the killer.
Horror Vault's take
When a group of American tourists exploring Spain begins falling prey to a hooded killer with a gruesome signature, no one on the tour — or off it — is above suspicion. Each new victim is found missing an eye, and the body count climbs as both police and travelers scramble to unmask the murderer in their midst. This 1975 Italian giallo from director Umberto Lenzi leans into the whodunit tradition, layering red herrings over a sun-drenched backdrop that feels anything but safe. Claustrophobic group dynamics and mounting distrust make for a tightly wound game of deadly guesswork.
