The premise

In 2176, a Martian police unit is sent to pick up a highly dangerous criminal at a remote mining post. Upon arrival, the cops find the post deserted and something far more dangerous than any criminal — the original inhabitants of Mars, hellbent on getting their planet back.

Horror Vault's take

Set on a colonized Mars in the 22nd century, a police unit dispatched to transport a notorious convict arrives at a remote mining outpost to find it eerily abandoned. What they discover is something far older and more dangerous than any criminal on their books — a malevolent ancient force with no intention of letting the planet's new inhabitants leave. John Carpenter delivers a relentless siege-style thriller that blends sci-fi world-building with raw horror instincts. Expect hard-edged action, a tough ensemble, and a threat that gets under your skin in the most literal sense.
