But the opulent walls hold something far more dangerous than enemy combatants, and the men quickly discover that surviving the living was the easy part. Ghosts of War layers wartime dread with supernatural terror, blending the grime of WWII combat with haunted-house chills in a way that keeps the tension relentlessly ratcheted up. Genre fans willing to go along for the ride will find the film swings for something more ambitious than a straightforward ghost story.
