When a passenger aircraft goes down in a desolate wilderness, the handful of survivors quickly discover that crashing was the least of their problems. Unearthly blob-like entities lurk in the wreckage's shadow, and those they claim don't simply die — they come back changed, and hungry. This late-1960s Japanese genre entry blends Cold War anxiety with visceral alien-horror imagery to deeply unsettling effect. Escape may be impossible when the threat can wear a human face.
