The premise
A long time ago in a distant fairy tale countryside, a young girl leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil.

A reimagining of the classic Brothers Grimm tale, Gretel & Hansel strips the familiar story down to its haunting bones — placing a resourceful young woman and her younger brother at the mercy of an ancient, malevolent force lurking deep in a fog-shrouded forest. Dire circumstances push the siblings into the orbit of a mysterious stranger whose hospitality feels as dangerous as it is enticing. Director Osgood Perkins crafts a visually hypnotic fable that lingers on mood and dread far more than conventional scares, elevating the source material into something genuinely eerie and strange.
