The premise
Hellboy and a rookie BPRD agent get stranded in 1950s rural Appalachia. There, they discover a small community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy's past: the Crooked Man.

Set in the shadowy hollows of 1950s Appalachia, Hellboy and a green BPRD recruit find themselves stranded in a backwoods community where something deeply wrong has taken root. Local witches terrorize the land under the shadow of a sinister folk devil known as the Crooked Man — a figure whose reach extends further into Hellboy's world than either agent expected. Drawing from Mike Mignola's source comics, the film leans into Americana horror steeped in coal dust, superstition, and old-world dread. Fans of Southern Gothic nightmare fuel will find plenty to sink their teeth into.
