The premise

In 19th-century Paris, a man raised by wolves works at a travelling circus, but on full moon nights, he transforms into a dangerous beast. Professor Paul Cataflanque is in charge of hunting him down as the young man develops an obsession for a prostitute.

Horror Vault's take

Set against the fog-laden streets and shadowy underbelly of 19th-century Paris, this Gothic werewolf tale follows a feral young man whose wolf-born upbringing never truly left him. By day he finds uneasy refuge in the spectacle of a travelling circus; by night, the full moon strips away whatever humanity he has built. When his fixation on a local woman intensifies, a determined professor makes it his mission to track down the creature terrorising the city. Cushing anchors the hunt with his trademark cerebral gravitas, lending the film a classic Hammer-adjacent atmosphere.
