Malibu Shark Attack2009
“The tsunami was just the beginning of the terror”
Directed by David Lister
The premise
An underwater earthquake generates a tsunami that strikes Malibu, bringing a hunting pack of prehistoric-looking goblin sharks to the surface. Although the beach is evacuated before the big wave strikes, a group of lifeguards and a crew of construction workers are stranded in the high water and have to fight the sharks to get to dry land.
Horror Vault's take
When a seismic event beneath the Pacific triggers a devastating tsunami, the beaches of Malibu are suddenly overrun by a pack of ancient goblin sharks dragged up from the deep. A group of lifeguards and construction workers find themselves trapped in the floodwaters with nowhere to run and no easy way out. Equal parts creature feature and disaster thriller, the film leans into its B-movie premise with energy and a willingness to go for the kill. If goblin sharks and wave-battered survivors sound like your kind of Friday night, this one delivers exactly what it promises.
