Shot almost entirely from the killer's point of view, this remake plunges viewers inside the fractured mind of a Los Angeles mannequin restorer whose outward calm masks savage, escalating urges. When a French photographer enlists his help for an art exhibition, a fleeting sense of human connection threatens to collide catastrophically with his darkest compulsions. Elijah Wood's against-type casting makes the intimacy of the first-person perspective all the more unsettling, turning a grindhouse premise into a genuinely harrowing character study.
