The premise
After Lori suffers a stillbirth, her husband Frank obtains a job with a northern California toy company. Frank's new boss, the mysterious Mr. Cato, explains that Frank's position will involve magic. Cato, who seemingly holds enormous influence over the town, pursues the power of necromancy and believes that Lori holds the key that will help him resurrect his own dead son.

Still reeling from personal tragedy, a young woman follows her husband to a remote California town where his enigmatic new employer casts a long, unsettling shadow over every resident. The charismatic and powerful Mr. Cato — played with commanding menace by Orson Welles — harbors obsessive ambitions rooted in the darkest corners of the occult. As strange rituals and seductive manipulation close in around her, Lori begins to question what her new community truly wants from her. This slow-burn 1970s curio blends cult paranoia with grief-soaked dread.
