The premise
When Lou Bloom, desperate for work, muscles into the world of L.A. crime journalism, he blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story. Aiding him in his effort is Nina, a TV-news veteran.

Lou Bloom is a driven, eerily self-possessed drifter who stumbles into the cutthroat world of freelance crime videography on the streets of Los Angeles. Armed with a police scanner and a camera, he sells shocking footage to a ratings-hungry TV news producer, rapidly discovering that the more visceral the images, the higher the price. As his ambition accelerates, the boundary between documenting violence and orchestrating it grows dangerously thin. Nightcrawler is a chilling character study of unchecked capitalism and the hollow American Dream dressed in a suit with a winning smile.
