The premise
The Freeling family move in with Diane's mother in an effort to escape the trauma and aftermath of Carol Anne's abduction by the Beast. But the Beast is not to be put off so easily and appears in a ghostly apparition as the Reverend Kane, a religious zealot responsible for the deaths of his many followers. His goal is simple - he wants the angelic Carol Anne.

The Freeling family thought the nightmare was behind them — they were wrong. A menacing presence follows them to their new refuge, taking the form of a coldly charismatic preacher with an unrelenting fixation on young Carol Anne. Ancient spiritual forces are drawn into the battle as the family fights to protect their daughter from something that does not stay on its side of the grave. This sequel expands the mythology of the original, pitting suburban family life against a darkness with a terrifyingly human face.
