The premise

It's been some time since Father Jebedaiah Mayii exorcised the Devil from little Nancy Aglet, who is now grown up with a husband and two children of her own. But the prince of darkness wants to go a second round and has returned to repossess her! With Father Mayii unwilling to help, Father Luke Brophy tries his best to help Nancy, even when TV's Ernest Weller plans to air the exorcism live on TV.

Horror Vault's take

A horror-comedy spoof that gleefully lampoons The Exorcist, Repossessed follows a grown woman who finds herself once again targeted by the Devil — years after a traumatic childhood encounter with demonic possession. Two mismatched priests scramble to save her soul while a opportunistic TV personality schemes to broadcast the whole terrifying spectacle live. With Leslie Nielsen at the helm of the chaos, the film trades scares for slapstick and satire, skewering both religious horror tropes and the rampant showbiz culture of the late '80s. Linda Blair's self-aware casting adds a winking meta layer that fans of classic possession films will appreciate.
