The premise
Chuan, a quiet 30-year-old man working as a chef in a Japanese restaurant, collapses suddenly and is rushed to a hospital. His colleagues send him to his father, who resides in the mountains. While there, Chuan becomes immobile: he won’t speak, eat or even go to the toilet on his own. One day his father returns from work only to find Chuan sitting in the corner with his daughter lying dead in a pool of blood. Horror Vault's take
When a withdrawn young chef collapses and is returned to his mountain-dwelling father to recover, his near-catatonic state is only the beginning of the family's ordeal. Something shifts inside him — something that speaks in a stranger's voice and seems entirely indifferent to the people around it. Taiwanese director Chung Mong-Hong crafts a slow, suffocating portrait of a household trying to make sense of what their son has become. The film blurs the line between clinical breakdown and something far darker, leaving both characters and viewers deeply unsettled.
